Jose Peseiro Steps Down as Super Eagles Coach Ahead of AFCON 2025. Peseiro, who guided the Eagles to a runner-up position in the 2023 African Cup of Nations, officially confirmed his departure in a statement released on Friday, March 1, following the expiration of his contract on Thursday, February 29.

Over the past 22 months, it’s been a journey filled with dedication, sacrifice, and immense enthusiasm. I extend my gratitude to Sir Amaju Pinnick, President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, Secretary Dayo Enebi, the NFF, and all staff, especially the players, for their collaboration and support,” wrote the former Porto manager.
Expressing his appreciation to the team, Peseiro mentioned, “It’s been a privilege to be part of this family. Though we part ways, my support for you all remains steadfast.
