Urgent Plea: Nigerian Women Cry Out to President Tinubu Over Soaring Cost of Living, Amidst the relentless economic strain, more Nigerians are reaching out to President Tinubu, urging him to alleviate their plight. In a recent interview with The Guardian, two women expressed their distress over the escalating cost of living. One of them, who disclosed her support for President Tinubu in the 2023 elections, tearfully pleaded:
“President Bola Tinubu, we placed our trust in you at the polls. We hoped for your assistance. But now, we’re hungry! Look at the heavy burden on my head; I’ve traversed a long distance on foot because I couldn’t afford transportation. The meager earnings are inadequate for our basic needs. Please, have compassion for the impoverished masses who rallied behind you. I cast my vote in your favor, believing you would bring relief. We’re starving!”
In a separate interview, another woman echoed the sentiment:
“We’re famished! A single tin of rice commands a price of N1,200. A five-liter container of vegetable oil is tagged at N7,000. Is this acceptable, Tinubu? Everything has become exorbitant. We’re languishing in hunger. Extend your empathy to the downtrodden. Spare us from perishing due to starvation. Ease our suffering.”
