New photos from the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires shed light on why staff were worried about the balcony of the room where Liam Payne fell to his death. The 31-year-old former One Direction singer’s tragic fall is being investigated as an apparent suicide, with police confirming he “jumped from the balcony.”
Balcony Safety Concerns
The images show that the deluxe suite, similar to the one Payne stayed in, features a glass-enclosed balcony with a railing around 4 feet high. For someone of Payne’s height (approximately 5’10”), it would not have been difficult to fall over the edge, whether intentionally or accidentally.
According to reports, the singer landed on the pool deck below his room on Wednesday afternoon. A preliminary autopsy from Argentinian officials confirmed that he suffered severe injuries, including internal and external hemorrhage, from the impact.
Photos Show Chaotic Hotel Room
Additional photos from a suite identical to Payne’s reveal a layout with a TV positioned at the center of the room. However, pictures believed to be from Payne’s actual room show a trashed space—the TV was smashed, and broken items were scattered across the floor.
Emergency Call Before the Fall
In the hours leading up to Payne’s death, a hotel staff member contacted authorities, expressing concern about a guest who appeared to be overwhelmed by alcohol and drugs. Staff had also been unable to access the room for several days, prompting the emergency call.
