Asake’s friends are complaining that he no longer responds to messages” – Yemi Elesho. Nigerian content creator, Yemi Elesho, reveals that Asake, the Afrobeats singer, is being criticized by his old friends for not replying to their messages.
During an interview with The Echo Room, Yemi Elesho mentioned that Asake’s friends from his struggling artist days feel neglected by him now that he has found fame.
Elesho suggested that he understands the situation because Asake is now a well-known music star and mingles with people of a different social status.
The skit-maker, who attended the same university as Asake, recalled that the musician couldn’t afford accommodation during his four years at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, so he relied on the generosity of friends.
He reasoned that it’s understandable for Asake to prioritize new acquaintances over some of his “old friends” now that he’s famous.
Elesho remarked, “Asake is now a big star, and many of his friends complain that he doesn’t respond to their direct messages, but I don’t bother sending him a DM because I know he won’t reply. He’s become very successful!
“The kind of people he associates with now is different; he’s already a big deal. He meets new people every day, people who are influential. Naturally, he can’t keep everyone close anymore.”
