Pierre Poilievre’s Early Life:
Pierre Poilievre was born on June 3, 1979, in Calgary, Alberta, to a sixteen-year-old mother with Irish-Canadian heritage. He was adopted by Donald and Marlene Poilievre, both teachers, shortly after his birth. Growing up in a modest home in suburban Calgary, he enjoyed activities like ice hockey and camping with his younger brother Patrick, who was also adopted.
During his childhood, Poilievre worked as a newspaper delivery boy for the Calgary Sun and was part of the Henry Wise Wood High School wrestling team until he had to quit at the age of 14 due to shoulder tendinitis. Following the injury, he developed an interest in politics by attending Alberta Tory Riding Association meetings. This led to his exploration of political texts, including Milton Friedman’s “Capitalism and Freedom,” which significantly influenced his political perspective.
