Breaking News. Police Officer Darambi Vandi Who Shoot To Death A Lawyer, Omobolanle Raheem Court Sentenced By Hanging
In a significant development, the Lagos State High Court, located at the Tafawa Balewa Square annex in Igbosere on Lagos Island, has handed down a sentence of death by hanging to a suspended Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) named Darambi Vandi. This ruling stems from his conviction for the murder of a Lagos-based lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem.
Presiding over the case, Justice Ibironke Harrison concluded that the prosecution, representing the Lagos State Government, had successfully presented an airtight case against the defendant, leaving no room for reasonable doubt. The judge declared, “The court finds the defendant guilty on one count of murder. You will be hanged by the neck till you are dead.”
The legal proceedings against Vandi commenced on January 16 when the Lagos State Government brought him before the court for the fatal shooting of the 41-year-old pregnant lawyer at the Ajah underbridge checkpoint on December 25, 2022. The sole charge levied against the convict was murder, as per Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
