A tragic incident unfolded as a pregnant woman and her two children lost their lives in an accident reportedly caused by a dispute between a policeman and a driver over the steering wheel. The collision occurred on Ago Palace Way in Okota, Lagos state, involving a tricycle with passengers on board.
According to an eyewitness named @tobe_stevee, the driver, who was initially arrested by the police, had one officer in his car, with others following behind. During the journey to the police station, at the Okota roundabout, the driver attempted to evade arrest by diverting onto Ago Palace Way. While in motion, a struggle for control of the steering wheel ensued between the policeman and the driver. Tragically, they both lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with the tricycle, which claimed the lives of a woman, her two children, and the tricycle rider.
This incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who have set up roadblocks and demanded the arrest of the responsible police officer. It highlights the need for improved law enforcement practices to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
