A man out for a stroll with his pet dog found himself in a harrowing situation when he was attacked by another aggressive dog on a crowded street.
In the UK, law enforcement responded swiftly to the violent street incident, which unfolded on the evening of September 19. They apprehended the aggressive dog and arrested a 53-year-old man in connection with the attack.
Surveillance footage captured on Handsworth Road in Sheffield, United Kingdom, depicts a man desperately raising his small black canine into the air as a larger, menacing dog lunges at it.
The aggressor, a Bullmastiff-type breed, circles the man, attempting to reach his pet. Frustrated, it redirects its aggression towards the man, launching a vicious assault on his arms and legs.
The shocking video reveals the dog clamping onto the man’s arm, forcibly dragging him off the sidewalk and onto a bustling roadway. Despite the painful fall, the man quickly regains his footing to protect his pet.
Ultimately, a passing red car intervenes, diverting the aggressive dog’s attention and allowing the dog owner to escape.
While the man sustained injuries to his arm and chest during the attack, they are reported as non-life-threatening or permanent.
The dog responsible for the rampage, which occurred around 5:40 pm on September 19, was apprehended by the police. Authorities have confirmed the arrest of a 53-year-old man in connection with the incident.
South Yorkshire Police issued the following statement: “The man sustained serious injuries to his arm and chest, but these injuries are not believed to be life-altering or life-threatening. Officers secured the dog—a Bullmastiff-type breed—in a secure area and successfully removed it from the scene. A 53-year-old man from Sheffield has been arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous dog out of control and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.”
