Man Forced to Leave Nigeria After Police Demand N200k to Pursue Phone Robbery Case (Watch)
A Nigerian man named Edy decided to leave the country after facing a frustrating experience with the police. He was robbed at gunpoint by three individuals in the Ikotun area of Lagos, who took his N80,000 phone. Edy had a security app on his phone that captured images of the criminals and sent them to his email.
When he reported the incident to the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) with this evidence, they demanded a payment of N200,000 to pursue the case, even though the phone was worth only N80,000. Edy, concerned for others’ safety, urged the police to prioritize apprehending the criminals, as the app also revealed the location where the phone was unlocked, which was an apartment. However, the police insisted on the payment of N200,000 or they wouldn’t take action, leading Edy to make the difficult decision to leave the country.
