IGP instructs CP to secure the secretariats of 17 local governments.
In response to the tensions surrounding the leadership of the Local Government Areas in Plateau State, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has directed the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew N. Onyeka, to seal off all 17 Local Government Secretariats in the state.
The decision to seal the secretariats is aimed at addressing the potential threat posed by supporters and Local Government Chairmen to critical infrastructure, lives, and properties in the state. The Nigeria Police Force sees it as their constitutional responsibility to ensure that such activities do not disrupt the peace and stability of Plateau State.
The statement, released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alfred Alabo, emphasizes the need to uphold public safety and maintain law and order. The sealing of the local government secretariats is a precautionary measure taken to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the smooth functioning of the state’s administrative activities.

The command therefore warns that it will not take it lightly with anyone who tries to disrupt this process or causes any confusion around the Local Government Secretariats, as we will ensure that the law takes it’s full course on such persons.
