Monaco Striker Ben Yedder Faces Charges of R@pe and Assault of two girls : Legal Turmoil Continues (Watch)
Wissam Ben Yedder, the Monaco and French footballer, is facing serious legal charges of ‘rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault,’ relating to alleged incidents that occurred on the Cote d’Azur in the previous month. Prosecutors in Nice confirmed the charges on Friday, August 11th.
At the age of 32, Ben Yedder has been subjected to judicial supervision and has had to post bail of 900,000 euros (£776,000) as stipulated by the Nice prosecutor’s office. In July, the public prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme confirmed that there were two allegations of rape made by two different victims against two individuals.
According to reports from France Info radio station, two women, aged 19 and 20, have accused Ben Yedder and his younger brother of coercing them into sexual acts following a night out. The same charges have been levied against Ben Yedder’s brother as well.
In addition to this legal issue, Ben Yedder has previously faced legal consequences. Back in April, he was found guilty of tax fraud by a Spanish court during his tenure with Sevilla, resulting in a six-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 133,798 euros. Despite his past controversies, Ben Yedder has represented France in international football, earning 19 caps, with his last appearance in June 2022.
With a track record that includes stints with Toulouse and Sevilla, Ben Yedder has amassed a total of 98 goals for Monaco since he joined the club in 2019. Notably, he was present at Monaco’s training session on Friday as they prepared for their upcoming Ligue 1 season opener against Clermont scheduled for Sunday.
