Artem Denies Nikki’s Allegations
Artem Chigvintsev has pushed back against domestic violence allegations made by his estranged wife, Nikki Garcia (Bella), in the wake of their divorce. Nikki obtained a restraining order earlier this week, accusing Artem of abuse, but Artem insists the accusations are fabricated, portraying Nikki as the true aggressor.
Dispute Over Breakfast Leads to Violence
In newly filed legal documents, Artem recounted the events leading to his August arrest. He claims the argument began while he was preparing breakfast for their 4-year-old son, Matteo. According to Artem, Nikki became upset over minor issues, like the way he toasted bread and packed Matteo’s lunch, which escalated into a physical altercation.
Artem alleges that Nikki threw shoes at him and struck him in the chest while their son watched in shock. He says he tried to defuse the situation by taking Matteo upstairs, but Nikki followed them and attempted to force her way into the room. Artem says she physically attacked him in front of their child.
Nikki’s Version of Events
In contrast, Nikki’s restraining order filing presents a different story. She claims that Artem tackled her to the ground outside their son’s room after an argument, then forced her into their bedroom and pinned her down, causing her to feel suffocated. Nikki says she fought back by grabbing Artem’s neck in self-defense.
Artem’s Arrest and Legal Response
After the incident, police were called, and Artem was arrested. He claims Nikki fabricated her story to ensure his arrest, despite his injuries being evident. Although he was taken into custody, the Napa County District Attorney later declined to press charges, citing insufficient evidence.
The Ongoing Divorce Battle
Both Artem and Nikki have filed for restraining orders against each other as their divorce progresses. While Nikki has filed for divorce following the altercation, the existence of a prenup remains unclear as their legal dispute intensifies.
