Boeing Flight to UK with 258 Passengers Makes Emergency Landing in Russia Due to Technical Issues
A passenger flight bound for the UK was forced to make an emergency landing in Russia after experiencing technical difficulties mid-flight.
The Air India Boeing 787-800, traveling from New Delhi to Birmingham, made a precautionary landing at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on Wednesday evening. All 258 passengers and 17 crew members aboard were unharmed and received full assistance from airport officials.
According to reports, the aircraft had been flying for about six hours at an altitude of 40,000 feet when the pilots detected a potential technical issue. As a precaution, they requested to land in Moscow while passing over the Russian capital.
After thorough inspections, the plane was cleared for flight and departed hours later, arriving safely in Birmingham later that night.
In a statement, Sheremetyevo Airport confirmed: “The aircraft’s crew requested an unscheduled landing due to technical problems. Airport services promptly responded and prepared to receive the aircraft according to emergency procedures. The foreign crew was provided full assistance in line with international conventions.”
