‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Star Amy Slaton Hospitalized After Alleged Camel Bite, Later Arrested for Drug Possession
Amy Slaton, star of “1000-Lb. Sisters,” was rushed to the hospital after reportedly being bitten by a camel at a Tennessee zoo. According to police, Amy had to be stretchered out of the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, with a makeshift bandage wrapped around her arm.
TMZ obtained photos of Amy in apparent pain as she was carried on a gurney. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing Amy walking through the parking lot with a shirt wrapped around her injured arm before being assisted by EMS workers onto the stretcher.
Adding to the bizarre situation, Amy was arrested after the incident. Law enforcement discovered psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana in her car, with the drugs reportedly in plain sight. As a result, Amy was charged with illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs, along with two counts of child endangerment. The charges were brought because her two children were in the car at the time.
The Tennessee Safari Park offers a drive-through safari experience and a walk-through zoo where visitors can feed exotic animals like camels and giraffes. However, Jon Conley, one of the park’s owners, disputes Amy’s claim that she was bitten by a camel. Conley argues that the injury above her elbow, which left the skin cut open, is not consistent with a camel bite, as there was no bruised tissue. Furthermore, the park was unable to find any surveillance footage supporting Amy’s story, and she reportedly could not pinpoint where in the park the bite occurred.
After being transported to the hospital for treatment, Amy was subsequently taken into police custody for booking, where she posed for a mugshot.
This incident marks the second injury at a drive-through safari in recent months. In June, a giraffe in Texas grabbed a toddler out of the back of a pickup truck at another zoo.
