President Joe Biden Spends Second Week on the Beach After Vowing to ‘Finish Strong
President Joe Biden was spotted relaxing on a Delaware beach on Wednesday, August 28, marking his second consecutive week of vacation from the White House.
The 81-year-old president spent about two hours at North Shores near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, alongside First Lady Jill Biden and two of her sisters. Dressed in colorful swim trunks, a white T-shirt, and a black cap, Biden appeared at ease, sitting on a beach chair while reviewing some documents.
Despite his recent pledge to finish his term strong by continuing to push policy, Biden has not been in the Oval Office for nearly 10 days. He left the White House on August 19 to attend the Democratic National Convention, where he delivered a powerful speech on the first night, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s nominee.
Afterward, Biden chose not to stay for the remaining three days of the convention in Chicago, instead traveling to California. There, he stayed at the $37 million estate of Joe Kiani, CEO of the medical technology company Masimo.
Biden wrapped up his stay at the billionaire donor’s luxurious ranch on Sunday before flying down to Rehoboth Beach, where he has a vacation home. According to the White House schedule, he is expected to remain there until Friday.
Reports suggest that Biden is maintaining a low public profile due to frustration with fellow Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who have distanced themselves from him. In an earlier interview with “CBS News Sunday Morning,” Biden expressed concern that his continued presence in the race might become a distraction, saying, “A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races… and I thought it’d be a real distraction.”
