Footballer Alvaro Morata and his wife Alice Campello have officially ended their seven-year marriage, during which they welcomed four children.
The couple’s separation was confirmed shortly after they were seen kissing during a family holiday in Sardinia. Campello was also recently by Morata’s side as he captained Spain to victory in the Euro 2024 final on July 14.
Morata, who recently signed with AC Milan after two seasons at Atletico Madrid, was notably without his wedding ring while interacting with Milan fans. On August 12, Morata announced their split via Instagram, stating: “After much reflection, Alice and I have decided to part ways. It has been a wonderful and respectful relationship where we’ve loved and supported each other deeply.
“These years together have been incredible, and our four children are undoubtedly the greatest outcome of our union. This is a painful decision, so we ask for respect and understanding. Please avoid spreading false stories for attention—there has never been any disrespect between us, only a series of misunderstandings that have worn down our relationship over time.
“Alice will always hold a special place in my heart, and everything we’ve experienced together has been amazing and a valuable lesson.”
Following the announcement, Campello, an Italian influencer, removed her husband’s surname from her social media profiles, reverting to her maiden name, Alice Campello. She also addressed the separation on social media, writing: “Alvaro and I have decided to part ways, and it is the hardest decision we’ve ever made. Like he said, there has been no infidelity or disrespect on either side.
“I want to emphasize that everything we’ve shared on Instagram is true. We loved each other deeply and continue to do so, but over time, misunderstandings piled up and were poorly managed, leading to this decision.
“We promised each other that we would always respect what we’ve been through and end things before they turned toxic, and that’s exactly what we’ve done.
“I want to thank Alvaro for everything he’s done for me, for the way he cared for me, and for being an incredible father and husband. I wish him nothing but the best.”
Morata and Campello married in June 2017, just before Morata’s move from Real Madrid to Chelsea. The couple shares three sons, including twins, and one daughter.
