Ayesha Curry in Tears After Tense Confrontation with Police in Paris Following Olympic Basketball Game
Ayesha Curry, the wife of basketball star and Olympic champion Stephen Curry, was brought to tears after a tense encounter with French police in Paris on Saturday night. The incident occurred as Ayesha, along with Stephen’s mother Sonya Curry, attempted to return to their car after the gold medal basketball game.
The nearly three-minute video shows Sonya Curry, Ayesha, and Draymond Green, a teammate of Stephen Curry, interacting with police officers. Ayesha was holding the couple’s youngest son, Caius, while another child, believed to be their oldest son, Canon, walked nearby with a flag draped over his shoulders.
Sonya Curry expressed frustration to the officers, saying, “Look, they won’t let us go back over there where we came from.” She pointed toward a location off-camera, explaining that the driver was unable to come to their location, and they were not permitted to return to where they had come from.
A man in the video, who was translating for Sonya, explained that the street was blocked because “the president” was expected to pass by. French President Emmanuel Macron, who attended the game between the United States and France, was likely the reason for the heightened security.
During the encounter, Draymond Green accused the officers of allegedly hitting the baby, asking, “So even after you hit the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?” It remains unclear which officer was accused or when the alleged contact occurred.
The video ends after three minutes, leaving the duration of the incident uncertain.
Ayesha and Stephen Curry have been married since 2011 and recently welcomed their fourth child, Caius, in May.
