J Lo & Ben Affleck: Communication Breakdown Halts Divorce Proceedings
The divorce between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck is moving slowly due to a complete breakdown in communication between the two.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ that J Lo and Ben are not speaking to each other, neither in person nor over the phone, which is significantly delaying the divorce process.
Their strained relationship is the main obstacle preventing a quick divorce. Despite having a prenuptial agreement and only needing to divide their Beverly Hills mansion, which is on the market, progress is stalled.
Our sources say J Lo and Ben have not hired lawyers and are instead handling everything through their respective business managers. These managers are trying to sort out the financial details of the divorce, but it’s complicated by the lack of direct communication between the couple.
TMZ previously reported that the estranged couple’s Beverly Hills estate is on the market for $68 million, and Ben recently closed on a $20.5 million mansion in Brentwood. Meanwhile, Jennifer is still searching for a new home.
Ben’s purchase of his new house coincided with Jennifer’s 55th birthday, but this appears to be a coincidence. However, it’s clear that the two are not on good terms.
Ben and J Lo are expected to eventually hire divorce lawyers. No legal documents will be filed until a settlement is reached. Once they do, they will file for divorce, a judge will sign off, and the process will be completed.
Until they start communicating again, the divorce will continue to progress very slowly.
