Watch Jake Paul compares Tyson Fury to Floyd Mayweather.
Jake Paul believes that Tyson Fury’s crossover bout against Francis Ngannou is beneficial for boxing. The announcement of the ten-round exhibition fight in Saudi Arabia on October 28 received mixed reactions, with some calling for the WBC to strip Fury of his heavyweight champion title.
Drawing a comparison to Floyd Mayweather’s fight against Conor McGregor, Paul noted that Mayweather didn’t face as much criticism for fighting an MMA star. He sees the Fury vs Ngannou fight as a massive event with global appeal, featuring two of the toughest individuals on the planet.
Paul expressed his happiness for Ngannou, who stands to make more money from this single fight than he did in his 14 appearances in the UFC. He believes that Ngannou’s success showcases to UFC fighters that they can earn significant sums by taking control of their own destiny, similar to what Nate Diaz is doing.
In Paul’s view, this fight should provide Diaz with his biggest payday, and it will undoubtedly be Ngannou’s largest payday as well. He hopes that more fighters will follow suit, leaving the UFC and joining organizations like the PFL, where they can pursue both boxing and MMA opportunities.
