View Patrick Mahomes superstitions, Chiefs player reveals pre-game rituals in Netflix documentary Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes recently made an appearance in the popular Netflix documentary series “Quarterback,” which focuses on NFL quarterbacks. Throughout the series, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback shared personal insights, and his fans absolutely loved it.
However, one revelation caught the attention of viewers—he follows a specific pre-game ritual because he is superstitious. Mahomes opened up about his routine during the series, stating, “My routine is always the same. I’m very superstitious. For home games, I usually wear casual clothes, but for away games, I put on a suit to stand out a bit. I go to the locker room and change into my hoodie. Then, I spend about 20 to 30 minutes on the bench, just taking in the stadium and getting myself in the right mindset.
“After that, I walk out to the midfield, being careful not to step on any lines or logos because I’m superstitious like that. Then, I head to the opposing team’s end zone to say a prayer at the goal post. Next, I go to the other side and stretch to warm up…
“Once I put my uniform back on, I come out and go through our pre-game drills. Before heading back into the locker room, I always make sure to kiss Brittany and Sterling. During the national anthem, I stand at the 30-yard line. After the coin toss, I jog to the end zone we are defending and let out a yell.”
