Woman Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Husband Over Internet Fraud Proceeds in Imo (Video)
Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi, from Uzoagba in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, for fatally stabbing her 31-year-old husband, Kelechi Nzemechi.
A statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, revealed that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that her husband had introduced her to internet fraud, commonly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’.
Okoye stated that on June 2, Oluchi confessed to having a heated argument with the deceased over his failure to give her a share of an alleged 250 million Rupiah they had fraudulently obtained from a victim in Indonesia. During the altercation, she used a kitchen knife to stab him in the upper part of his body.
“The suspect further revealed that in an attempt to cover up her crime, she quickly wrote on a piece of paper, ‘You think you can eat my money and go free. I am baba for the boys. I am coming for your wife and your child including your family,’ and placed it on the victim’s lifeless body before fleeing the house. She also mentioned that she had been living with the victim since 2019 and has a child with him,” Okoye said.
Efforts are being made to recover the alleged 250 million Rupiah for possible return to the rightful owner. Okoye added that the suspect is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will be arraigned in court soon.
