Why I Got Into Music: Skit Maker Taaooma Shares
Taaooma, the renowned Nigerian skit creator, also known as Maryam Akpaogaki, recently shared her reasons for venturing into the music industry.
The multi-talented entertainer explained that she delved into music because she believed it would be more fitting to use her own songs in her skits, rather than relying on tracks from other musicians.
During her appearance on The Leaderboard podcast hosted by Fisayo Fosudo, she expressed, “To me, entertainment means freedom. You have the freedom to explore various avenues.”
She further elaborated, stating, “I also appreciate the fact that it’s my music. It’s my own song. It’s something I can be proud of creating. I realized that I was using other people’s songs [in my skits], and it wasn’t as challenging. I have access to a studio, so we can record songs.”
Taaooma’s passion for music became evident as she continued, “I genuinely love music. Some people used to say I have a melodious voice. However, instead of trying to sing solo, I believe collaborations can bring about something amazing.”
Regarding those who criticize her music, Taaooma confidently asserted that it is ultimately up to God and her unwavering dedication to prove her critics wrong.
