A farmer who started a pig business with N270k now makes N30 million every month. A Nigerian livestock farmer recently shared the remarkable success story of his pig farming business, which began with a modest investment of N270k in 2016 and now generates an impressive monthly revenue of N30 million. In an exclusive video interview with renowned storyteller Lucky Udu, Dr. Bakaida recounted the journey of his pig farming enterprise, highlighting its extraordinary growth over the years.
Starting with just nine pigs, Dr. Bakaida revealed that his farm now houses over 1000 pigs, with an estimated value exceeding N100 million.
“In 2016, I started pig farming with about nine pigs that I bought for around N270,000. Initially, I didn’t have proper facilities, so I housed them in an unfinished building. Over time, I nurtured them until they grew into what they are today,” Dr. Bakaida explained. Highlighting the economic potential of pig farming, the entrepreneur emphasized that the business could potentially generate up to N500 million annually. “Pork meat has various uses. Apart from being a popular meat product, it is also used in the production of snacks like gala, biscuits, and other confectionery items,” he added.
