His passing has left the FC Juarez community devastated, as he was regarded not only as a player but also as a cherished member of their family. Chavez had previously played for Juarez on loan and had stints with other teams, including Spanish side Salamanca and Peruvian club Carlos A Mannucci.
Returning to Juarez last year, he made 46 appearances across two spells, scoring three goals. His final game was as a substitute on January 29, with his presence missed in their subsequent match against Chivas on Sunday.
