Travis Kelce has been landing more acting roles recently, but his relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift isn’t the driving force behind it. According to “Friday Night Lights” actor Sinqua Walls, Kelce’s rise in Hollywood is due to his natural charisma and NFL success.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Walls explained that Kelce’s skills on the big screen are rooted in his personality, not just his association with Swift. “I think what we’ve seen over the last few years of Travis is that he has a natural, innate charisma and personality,” Walls said.

While Swift’s fans (aka Swifties) might credit her for Kelce’s growing fame, Walls emphasizes that his NFL achievements are playing a significant role in expanding his Hollywood career. “He’s a champion,” Walls stated, referring to Kelce’s Super Bowl victories with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. “They’ve both built a bigger profile, and with that comes more exposure and opportunities.”

Kelce’s Acting Journey Began Before Taylor Swift

Kelce’s journey into entertainment started long before his relationship with Swift. In 2016, he starred in the reality dating show Catching Kelce and has since appeared in shows like Moonbase 8 and even hosted Saturday Night Live in 2023. These roles all came before he began dating Swift, showing that his transition into acting is well underway.

Despite the public’s focus on his personal life, Sinqua Walls believes Kelce has the chops to make it as an actor on his own. “It’s not impossible for an athlete to transition into being a good actor,” Walls said. “It’s totally possible.”
