Quavo is being sued by Louisiana rapper Lamount London, known as L.Mont, for allegedly stealing the concept of his 2018 hit song “Bubble Gum.” L.Mont claims he handed Quavo the inspiration personally.
Details of the Allegation
According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, L.Mont opened for 2 Chainz and Migos at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on February 9, 2016. He says he gave Quavo a CD containing his own track titled “Bubble Gum,” a song he recorded in 2015 with a bouncy New Orleans-style beat, hoping for a future collaboration.
Lawsuit Claims
L.Mont claims that when Quavo released “Bubble Gum” on his debut solo album *Quavo Huncho* in 2018, the song bore striking similarities to his work. The lawsuit alleges that Quavo copied L.Mont’s lyrics, arrangement, and melody, while changing only the candy theme of the song.
Seeking Damages
L.Mont is now seeking damages, citing the millions of streams Quavo’s “Bubble Gum” has received. So far, neither Quavo nor his team have responded to the allegations.
