Cardi B and Offset Face Lawsuit Over Nonpayment for Luxury Mansion in Music Video
Cardi B and Offset are being sued by the owner of a Beverly Hills mansion featured in Cardi’s music video for “Like What,” which Offset directed. The property owner claims the couple misrepresented their intentions by stating they were filming a brief TikTok video rather than a full-scale music video.
Property Owner Seeks Over $35,000 in Damages
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the homeowner agreed to let Cardi, Offset, and their team use the property for free, under the impression it was for a TikTok video. However, the owner later discovered the property was used for a high-production music video, which has garnered over 27 million views on YouTube. The lawsuit seeks more than $35,000 in damages, arguing that had the homeowner known about the music video, proper rental fees would have been charged.
Cardi B Fires Back, Denies Allegations
Cardi B took to social media to deny the claims, stating that she paid $10,000 in cash for 24-hour use of the mansion. She also mentioned paying extra fees for exceeding the time limit and insisted that the property owner and realtors were present during the entire shoot, fully aware it was for a music video, not just a TikTok clip.
Cardi’s Response on Twitter
In response to the lawsuit, Cardi tweeted, “We paid those people $10,000 IN CASH to rent the property for a whole 24 hours… Now they wanna finesse us trying to say we told them it was a TikTok video… IRON YOUR BEST SUIT BITCH I’ll see you in court!!!!”
As the legal battle unfolds, both parties are gearing up for a court showdown over the alleged misrepresentation of the mansion rental.
