Cristiano Ronaldo has shared insights into his family life and how his competitive nature has influenced his five children. In a recent interview, Ronaldo discussed his role as a father and his approach to his son’s potential football career.
Ronaldo’s Historic Achievement and Family Life
At 39, Cristiano Ronaldo recently made history by becoming the first player to score 900 career goals, with his latest goal coming for Portugal against Croatia. Ronaldo has five children: two with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and three with the Argentine-Spanish model, all born via a surrogate.
His eldest son, Cristiano Jr., is following in his footsteps by playing for Al-Nassr’s youth team, while Ronaldo continues his career with the senior squad.
Ronaldo’s Competitive Spirit Reflected in His Children
In an interview with former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo revealed how his competitive nature has been mirrored by his children. He shared how his daily activities, like playing padel with Cristiano Jr., often lead to competitive tensions.
“Even my youngest, Matteo, shows a competitive spirit,” Ronaldo said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast. “My kids have personalities similar to mine. They see how I react to winning and losing, which influences them.”
Balancing Encouragement and Pressure for His Son
Despite Cristiano Jr.’s aspirations to become a footballer, Ronaldo is cautious about applying pressure. “This generation is tough; they observe their parents as role models,” he noted. “Cristiano wants to be a football player, but I try not to impose too much pressure. He’s already under enough pressure as my son.”
Ronaldo emphasized that while he supports his son’s ambitions, he believes in allowing him to make his own choices and mistakes. “If he chooses another path, I will support him regardless,” Ronaldo concluded. “Fame should not add pressure to his decisions.”
