Shohei Ohtani’s Dog Decoy Steals the Show with Perfect First Pitch
Shohei Ohtani isn’t the only athlete in his household—his adorable dog, Decoy, took center stage with a flawless “first pitch” at Wednesday’s Dodgers game!
The Japanese superstar and his four-legged friend were the highlights of the night as the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Baltimore Orioles. Decoy not only participated in the pre-game ceremony but also inspired a special giveaway—40,000 bobbleheads featuring Ohtani holding Decoy.
Before the first inning, Ohtani and Decoy, dressed in a No. 17 jersey, took to the field for the ceremonial first pitch. Ohtani placed Decoy on the mound with a baseball by his side, then positioned himself behind home plate. On Ohtani’s command, Decoy picked up the ball and sprinted toward his dad, executing a pitch that had the crowd cheering.
Ohtani was all smiles, rewarding Decoy with a high five and a treat for his stellar performance. The sellout crowd was equally thrilled, applauding the pup’s perfect pitch.
Decoy has become quite the celebrity since his debut, with fans eager to learn his name, which Ohtani revealed during his introductory press conference with the Dodgers. Decoy’s popularity, along with Ohtani’s, was on full display Wednesday as fans flocked to the stadium early to grab the coveted bobbleheads. Some even managed to score the limited golden version, now fetching over $1,000 on auction sites.
It was a nearly perfect night for the Ohtani family, capped off by Shohei hitting a home run in the first inning and stealing two bases.
