Pilot and Passenger Survive Plane Crash on Busy Road in Gloucestershire, England
A pilot and passenger survived a rare plane crash in Gloucestershire, England, on Tuesday, August 27. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. local time when a light aircraft crashed onto the A419 Stroud Road, near Aston Down airfield in Frampton Mansell. Gloucestershire police confirmed the crash in a Facebook statement, noting that both occupants would be evaluated by the ambulance service and that no other vehicles were involved.
Photographer Mila Vukelić captured images of the scene, showing the aircraft across the road with its wings entangled in shrubs and its tail broken.
The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust reported that they dispatched a double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, and an operations officer. One patient was transported to Southmead Hospital by land ambulance, and the other was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital.
Witnesses described the plane’s descent, with one saying it appeared to stall and nose-dive onto the road. Another observer, caught in the ensuing traffic chaos, noted the presence of what looked like a glider and mentioned that their stepdaughter, a nurse, remained at the scene to assist.
