K-pop Singer Taeil Removed from Group After Sexual Crime Allegation
A well-known K-pop star has been removed from his boyband after being accused of an unspecified sexual crime, according to an announcement from his label.
Taeil, a member of the popular boyband NCT, is currently under investigation by the police. His agency, SM Entertainment, released a statement on X, confirming that Taeil will be leaving the group following allegations of involvement in a criminal case related to a sexual crime. The specific nature of the crime has not been disclosed.
“We recognize the gravity of the situation and have determined that Taeil can no longer continue his activities with the group,” the statement read.
The agency added, “After discussing this matter with Taeil, it was decided that he will depart from the group.”
Moon Tae-il, known to fans as Taeil, previously held the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on Instagram.
Taeil was a member of NCT, or Neo Culture Technology, a globally recognized South Korean boyband that debuted in 2016.
The group currently boasts over two dozen members, organized into several subunits, including NCT 127, NCT Dream, and NCT U. Taeil was a member of NCT 127.
