Israel Rescues Hostage After 325 Days in Hamas Captivity
On Tuesday, August 27, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) and Israel Security Agency (ISA) announced the successful rescue of Qaid Farhan Alkadi, who had been held hostage in Gaza for nearly a year.
Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant confirmed the operation, stating, “The IDF and ISA have rescued Qaid Farhan Alkadi from Gaza and returned him to his family in Israel. This mission was part of the IDF’s bold and courageous actions deep within the Gaza Strip.”
Gallant added, “This operation is one of many efforts by the IDF aimed at achieving the objectives of this war. Israel remains committed to exploiting every opportunity to bring hostages back home.”
Alkadi, 52, from Rahat, was rescued by a combined team of Israeli combat units, including the 401st Brigade, 162nd Division, and Shayetet 13, along with the engineering combat special-ops unit Yahalom and ISA intelligence operatives.
The details of the rescue operation are being withheld for security reasons. Alkadi is currently in stable condition and receiving medical care at a hospital. His family has been informed of his recovery and is being escorted by IDF personnel to reunite with him.
Following this rescue, 108 Israeli hostages remain under terrorist control in the Gaza Strip, with 36 confirmed deceased. Most of the hostages were taken during the October 7 attacks last year, and many have been held for over 320 days.
