Football Star Accused of Paying Only £8 a Month in Child Maintenance to Struggling Ex-Girlfriend
A football star is under fire for allegedly paying just £8 a month in child maintenance to his ex-girlfriend, despite her claims of financial struggle.
The former player, known for his appearances on TV and radio, is accused of concealing his assets to minimize his child support payments. His ex-girlfriend, who supports their 14-year-old son, asserts that he owes her hundreds of thousands of pounds.
She told The Sun, “My son has had to eat £1.80 packet noodles for dinner on really hard days. It broke my heart.” She added that all her earnings go towards supporting him and maintaining their home.
The couple had a two-year relationship before she became pregnant. During his 20-year career, he played in the Championship. When she announced her pregnancy, he disclosed he was already married.
She accepted an offer of £10,000 from him to avoid bringing the financial dispute to a tribunal but expected regular child maintenance payments. She claims that officials report his earnings as less than £7 a week, allowing him to pay minimal support.
The ex-girlfriend criticized the football star’s public persona, saying, “He comes across as a jovial guy. His hypocrisy is jaw-dropping.”
