Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks YouTube Record, Gains 15 Million Subscribers in 12 Hours (Video)
On Wednesday, August 21, Cristiano Ronaldo joined YouTube and quickly made history by surpassing a record previously held by American YouTuber MrBeast. The 39-year-old Portuguese football legend gained over 10 million subscribers within just 12 hours, a feat that took MrBeast 132 days to achieve.
MrBeast, who has 311 million subscribers, is currently the most-followed channel on YouTube, recently overtaking T-Series, which has 272 million subscribers. Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes follows with about 180 million subscribers.
Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr as a forward and captain, actually joined YouTube on July 8, but his first video was uploaded on August 21, 2024. As of the latest update, Ronaldo’s channel has already surpassed 15 million subscribers.
In one of his videos, Ronaldo unboxed the YouTube Golden Button, celebrating his channel’s milestone of becoming the fastest in history to reach 1 million subscribers.

Beyond YouTube, Ronaldo is also the most followed person on Meta’s Instagram, with 636 million followers. Instagram’s official brand account follows closely with 626 million followers. His football rival, Lionel Messi, comes next with 504 million followers, and singer Selena Gomez ranks after with 425 million followers.
