Palestinian father, Mohammed Abu Al-Qumsan, was devastated after his 4-day-old twin babies, their mother, and grandmother were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Gaza.
The airstrike took place in Deir Al-Balah, located in the central Gaza Strip. The attack claimed the lives of the newborn twins, Asser and Aysel, along with their mother and grandmother.
On that tragic day, Mohammed had left home to obtain birth certificates for his newborn son and daughter. While he was at a local government office, he received the heartbreaking news that his home had been bombed. The airstrike that killed his entire family occurred while he was away.
Videos shared online show Mohammed in deep grief, crying uncontrollably, and unable to be comforted. The birth certificates he had gone to collect were still with him.
“I don’t know what happened,” Mohammed said tearfully, still in shock from the sudden and devastating loss.
“I am told it was a shell that hit the house. I didn’t even have the time to celebrate them,” he told AP.
According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, 115 infants have been born and killed during the ongoing conflict, which began on October 7th following a deadly attack on Israel by Hamas-led gunmen. The attack resulted in the deaths of 1,200 Israelis and sparked a massive military offensive on Gaza, leading to over 39,790 Palestinian casualties, as reported by the health ministry.
