Christopher Dorner: Cop Killer’s Old Handgun Found in Armed Robbery Bust
A handgun registered to Christopher Dorner, the infamous ex-LAPD officer and cop killer, has been recovered in connection with the arrest of two men suspected of robbing a $1 million watch. This shocking discovery comes over a decade after Dorner’s death.
Los Angeles prosecutors revealed that the Beverly Hills Police found the firearm during a Saturday morning search of the suspects’ Airbnb. The weapon, a loaded Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun, was hidden inside a pillowcase. Authorities have also released photos purportedly showing one of the suspects holding the gun.
Christopher Dorner became notorious in 2013 after being accused of murdering four people, including a police officer, which led to a massive 9-day manhunt. The manhunt concluded with Dorner’s death in a remote cabin in Big Bear, CA, following a fierce gunfight with police.
According to prosecutors, the gun was used last week when two South American nationals held a man at gunpoint, stealing his $1 million Patek Philippe watch while he dined with his family on the patio of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
It’s still unclear how the suspects obtained a firearm registered to Dorner. However, law enforcement tracked the suspects, arrested them, and discovered the weapon during a search warrant execution.
The suspects, 21-year-old Jamer Mauricio Sepulveda and 19-year-old Jesus Eduardo Padron, are now facing serious charges. Sepulveda is charged with one count of interference with commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act) and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Padron is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery.
If convicted, Sepulveda could face a maximum sentence of life in federal prison, while Padron faces up to 20 years behind bars.
