Davido takes Sophia Momodu to court, seeks custody of daughter Imade
David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has filed a legal motion against Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade. In documents submitted by his legal team, including Dr. Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah, to the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024, Davido requested joint custody of Imade Adeleke.
Alternatively, Davido asked for unrestricted visitation rights to see his daughter.
The case, identified as LD/1587PMC/2024, lists Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke as the petitioner and Ms. Sophia Momodu as the respondent.
In his motion, Davido acknowledged his past relationship with Momodu, which resulted in the birth of Imade on May 14, 2015. He stated that despite the relationship ending years ago, they had agreed to co-parent their child.
Davido emphasized his financial support, including paying for Imade’s school fees and providing an apartment where Momodu and their daughter reside. He claimed to have offered Momodu a N200 million apartment in a secure community with amenities, which she declined, opting instead for a rented accommodation with an annual rent of N5,000,000.
To ensure Imade’s comfort and safety, Davido mentioned purchasing a Range Rover for their use, which Momodu allegedly complained about due to its condition. He then provided another vehicle, a Highlander SUV, and covered the repair costs for the Range Rover.
Davido also committed to covering living expenses, nanny fees, medical care, insurance, and travel expenses for their daughter.
Despite his efforts, Davido accused Momodu of making unreasonable demands and causing him emotional distress.
Among Momodu’s alleged demands were monthly payments of $800 for a nanny and an annual lump sum of $19,600. Davido concluded by expressing his continued dedication to providing for Imade’s well-being and seeking resolution through legal means.
