Family Dog Kills 7-Month-Old Baby in UK
A baby girl has died after being bitten by her family’s pet dog in Coventry, police reported. West Midlands Police arrived at the scene where they found the seven-month-old with serious head injuries from the attack. She was taken to the hospital but did not survive.
The dog, not classified as a dangerous breed, was euthanized humanely.
Detectives are investigating the tragic incident.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday afternoon, June 16, when officers were called to a street in the Coundon area of the city. No arrests have been made in connection with the attack.
A police spokesperson stated: “A baby has tragically died after being bitten by a pet dog at a home in Coventry. We were called to a property on Shorncliffe Road shortly after 3pm on Sunday. Along with our ambulance colleagues, we arrived within minutes.
“A seven-month-old baby girl had sustained serious head injuries after being bitten by the family’s dog inside the home. She received treatment from paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the hospital. Sadly, she died shortly after. Our thoughts are with her family during this devastating time.
The pet dog, which isn’t considered a dangerous breed, was removed from the home on Sunday and euthanized humanely.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to a medical emergency at a private address on Shorncliffe Road in Coventry at 3:01pm on Sunday. Two ambulances, a specialist paramedic, a paramedic officer, and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
On arrival, crews found a female child patient who, after receiving treatment, was taken to the hospital by land ambulance.”
