NBA player Cameron Payne arrested for making false statements to police
Philadelphia 76ers guard Cameron Payne was arrested in Arizona early Friday morning for providing false information to police.
The incident unfolded when Scottsdale Police responded to a disturbance call around 2:44 AM in Scottsdale. Payne and another individual were involved, but specific details were not disclosed by police.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, Payne was arrested at the scene and charged with refusal to provide an accurate name and giving a false report to law enforcement. The 29-year-old NBA athlete was released shortly afterward.
Payne, recently traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Sixers in exchange for Patrick Beverley, has connections to Scottsdale from his time with the Phoenix Suns between 2019 and 2023.
Throughout his NBA career spanning 405 games, Payne has averaged 7.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
