FG Declares June 12 Public Holiday
The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12 will be a public holiday in honor of this year’s Democracy Day.
Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made this announcement in a statement released by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, on Tuesday, June 11. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to stay committed to the principles of democratic governance.
The statement read:
“As we mark another Democracy Day in our nation’s history, let us reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity.”
Tunji-Ojo also encouraged Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to recognize the progress made and to look forward to a brighter future for Nigeria’s democracy.
