Solomon Buchi and others criticize Asake for disrespecting Christianity in his latest song. The Afrobeat artist, also known as Ololade Mr Money, faced backlash shortly after releasing the music video for his song “Only Me.” In the video, Asake and his team portrayed themselves as priests conducting a Catholic mass, complete with angelic halos. Notable figure Solomon Buchi, along with many Nigerians, took to social media to express their disapproval of Asake’s artistic choices. Buchi labeled Asake’s actions as disrespectful and questioned why Christians continued to support his music.
He questioned Asake’s decision to repeatedly depict Christian symbols in his videos, suggesting that if Asake were Muslim, he wouldn’t disrespect his own faith in the same manner. He also pondered why Christians still listened to musicians who showed blatant disrespect towards Christianity.
