Two fake soldiers got arrested in Lagos. The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Jonathan Yahaya and Mohammed Umar, for allegedly falsely representing themselves as soldiers. Confirming the arrest on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the command, stated that the fake soldiers were handed over to the police by a Nigerian Army officer. According to Hundeyin, a Major from the 81 Division, Nigerian Army Provost, stationed at Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought the suspects to the Onikan Police Division following their apprehension.
He further explained that one of the suspects was found wearing camouflage trousers and black combat boots, while the other was dressed in a Nigerian Army uniform.
“After interrogation, it was revealed that both suspects were impersonating soldiers. They were unable to provide a credible explanation for how they acquired the army uniforms, leading to their arrest. The suspects will face charges in court upon the completion of investigations,” the PPRO concluded.
