Angry residents handcuff and brutally beat a man caught stealing exotic fruits. Residents in Durban, South Africa, took justice into their own hands when they caught a man allegedly stealing litchis (exotic fruits) from a home. The accused individual was handcuffed to a tree and subjected to a brutal beating by enraged locals. A Facebook post indicated that incense sticks were placed near his feet, possibly as a form of torture. The man had reportedly entered the property and pilfered litchis from multiple trees. Confronted by the homeowner and family, he was restrained to a tree and whipped with sjamboks and sticks. Law enforcement was called to the scene, where the man was found with extensive injuries.
The handcuffs were eventually removed, and despite the severity of the incident, the homeowner opted not to pursue a criminal case for theft, leading to the suspect’s release without detention. In an interview, the injured man chose not to file a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and declined medical treatment before leaving.
