Mother Taken Into Custody for Allegedly Abducting Eight Biological Children from Foster Care and Transporting Them 2,000 Miles
A mother has been arrested on allegations of abducting her eight biological children from foster homes and transporting them halfway across the country.
Trista Fullerton, 36, who had previously lost custody of her children, was observed displaying unusual behavior while in the company of six children on October 21, according to the Anderson Police Department in California.
Responding to a concerned citizen’s welfare check request, the police discovered Fullerton and the children in a parking lot, and their Dodge pickup truck bore an Arkansas license plate.
Fullerton was identified as a resident of Rogers, Arkansas, with an outstanding felony warrant related to the abduction of eight children. She was apprehended and questioned about the whereabouts of the remaining two children.
The mother revealed that they were in a home in the Cottonwood area, and officers from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office aided in locating and ensuring the children were placed in the care of a local children and family services agency.
“Officers learned that Fullerton was the biological mother of all the children; however, she had lost her custodial rights and had taken the children from their foster placements,” the Anderson police stated.
Shasta County Children and Family Services took steps to reunite Fullerton’s children with their legal guardians in Arkansas.
The reasons for Fullerton’s loss of custody of her eight children and the duration of her time with them before her arrest have not been disclosed.
Additionally, the police department shared an image of the pickup truck, which was strewn with various items such as food wrappers, a soda bottle, and plastic and paper bags on the floor and dashboard. The white pickup truck was parked outside a Mexican restaurant.
