Watch police convince 14-year-old boy not to shoot himself after he k!lled his mother (video)
A dramatic and tense moment unfolded as Florida police released a video capturing the desperate situation involving a 14-year-old boy who had tragically killed his mother and injured her boyfriend. The incident began with an argument in their Riverview home, leading to the horrifying sounds of gunshots.
Fearing for his life, the boy’s sibling fled the scene, leaving their mother fatally wounded in the driveway. The young assailant, Adeem Berry, then embarked on a frantic search for his mother’s injured boyfriend, who had sought refuge in a neighbor’s house.
When the police arrived on the scene, they confronted Berry, who held a handgun to his head and repeatedly threatened to take his own life. Officers desperately pleaded with him, attempting to convince him not to go through with such a tragic act.
In the midst of this harrowing standoff, an officer reassured Berry, saying, “I don’t want to hurt you, bro… You don’t want to end it this way.” Despite moments of hesitation when Berry briefly put the gun down, he continued to reach for it.
Eventually, the police resorted to firing a “less lethal round” at Berry, striking him in the hand. Negotiations continued, with officers urging him to approach them without the firearm.
After an intense 16-minute negotiation, Berry slowly walked toward the officers, laid down on the ground, and surrendered. Sheriff Chad Chronister commended the deputies for their exceptional patience and skill in handling the situation, emphasizing that they believed Berry was contemplating suicide rather than posing an immediate threat.
With Berry now in custody, an officer reflected on the gravity of the situation, acknowledging that they would investigate the events that had transpired. He commended Berry for surrendering, stating, “Whatever choices you made — that’s the best choice you made all day. Thank you.”
Berry now faces charges of murder and attempted murder, marking the beginning of a challenging legal process following this tragic and emotionally charged incident.
