Watch Video shows teenager deliberately hit and k*lled retired police chief who was riding his bike (Full Video)
Alarming video footage captures the deliberate hit-and-run incident where a teenager targeted and fatally struck a retired police chief who was riding his bicycle. The incident occurred in Las Vegas, with the shocking video revealing a teenage driver laughing, while a friend can be heard encouraging the act, saying, “Yeah, kick his ass.”
The victim, Andreas Probst, aged 64, lost his life in this intentional collision during a morning bike ride around 6 a.m. on August 14, as reported by Las Vegas police.
The 17-year-old driver of the Hyundai involved in the incident was promptly arrested by law enforcement. According to The Las Vegas Review-Journal, the teenager now faces murder charges, thanks to a video shared on social media that clearly showed him intentionally striking the victim.
Over the weekend, this disturbing video clip went viral online, depicting the driver asking his friends, “ready?” while the passenger records the act, laughing and later confirming that they had indeed hit the victim.
The distressing video begins with the passengers using offensive language towards other vehicles as they speed along North Tenaya Way near West Centennial Parkway. The footage then captures the car approaching a man in red riding a bicycle on the side of the road. Encouraged by his friends, the driver enters the bike lane behind the cyclist, honks his horn, and deliberately causes a loud collision, sending the cyclist flying. The passenger continues to record as the victim lies helpless by the side of the road.
Andreas Probst was rushed to University Medical Center but was pronounced dead, according to the Review Journal. It remains unclear whether the passenger who filmed the incident has faced any charges.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested on the same day as Probst’s death on suspicion of a hit-and-run, with murder charges being added later due to the incriminating video, although the exact timing of the charges remains uncertain.
Andreas Probst had relocated to Las Vegas after retiring as police chief in Bell, California, in 2009, as per reports. A memorial ceremony in his honor was held earlier this month, where he was remembered for his 35 years of service in law enforcement.
