Laborer Beheads Farmer in Ondo Under the Influence of Meth and Marijuana (Watch)
A laborer named Sunday Clement has been ordered to be held in Olokuta Correctional Centre by an Akure Chief Magistrate Court. He stands accused of beheading a farmer named Taye Alatoye, aged 30. Clement was arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing Alatoye while they were en route to their farm. On the day of the incident, Clement unexpectedly attacked Alatoye with a sharp cutlass, beheading him without a clear motive. He has been charged with murder, and the police prosecutor, Mary Adebayo, stated that the crime occurred on September 4, 2023, at Baba Odun Camp in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Adebayo requested that the court remand Clement in Olokuta Correctional Centre pending guidance from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The defendant, who admitted to taking crystal methamphetamine (“ice”) and marijuana on the day of the incident, expressed remorse and explained that he felt a mysterious urge to commit the act.
Chief Magistrate Folasade Aduroja did not allow Clement to enter a plea due to jurisdiction issues. She granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered the defendant’s remand in the Custodial Centre. The case file will be duplicated and sent to the DPP for further advice.
