DSS Apprehends Authorities Involved in Misappropriating Federal Government’s Aid Supplies (Watch)
The Department of State Services (DSS) has made public the arrest of certain individuals involved in diverting relief supplies provided by the federal government. These supplies were originally intended for the “vulnerable” population in Nasarawa state as a measure to alleviate the impact of removing fuel subsidies.
Several suspects were apprehended at a popular market in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, where they were found reselling these relief items. Among those arrested were officials from the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) and their associates.
The spokesperson for the secret police, Peter Afunanya, has urged members of the public to report any information regarding this emerging pattern to the appropriate security agencies. He emphasized that the wrongdoers would face legal consequences in accordance with the law.
Afunanya said;
“The Department of State Services (DSS) has received reports from some State Governments relating to the diversion or sale of palliatives meant for their citizens.
“Consequently, the Service undertook investigations in that regard and has recovered some of the items as well as apprehended the suspects.”
