2face Idibia: My Legendary Status Remains Intact Even If Young Artists Don’t Acknowledge It (Watch)
Renowned Nigerian musician, Innocent Ujah Idibia, famously known as 2face Idibia, has expressed his indifference towards receiving legendary recognition from the emerging generation of artists.
During an interview on the latest episode of the Afrobeats podcast hosted by Adesope Olajide, also known as Shopsydoo, the ‘African Queen’ singer stated that he does not feel entitled to any acknowledgment from younger artists. He emphasized that if new talents choose not to acknowledge his legendary status, it does not diminish his own identity in any way.
2face appreciates it when young artists pay tribute to him for his legendary status, viewing it as a form of recognition, but he does not consider it obligatory. He explained, “No one owes me anything. As far as I’m concerned, my legendary status is established and enduring. It’s a permanent aspect of who I am, irrespective of whether young artists recognize it or not.”
He further added, “While I do appreciate it when people acknowledge my legendary status, I don’t take it personally if they don’t. Their lack of recognition is simply a result of their own lack of awareness. No one is obliged to acknowledge another person’s accomplishments because each artist has their own unique narrative to tell.”
“Every new artist, even if they draw inspiration from me or anyone else, will utilize it to propel their own growth. That’s just how they create their individual stories,” 2face concluded.
