Lagos State Government Implements Traffic Diversion at Ikorodu Roundabout for Junction Improvement Works (Watch)
The municipal administration of Lagos has recently put forth an announcement regarding a significant alteration in traffic patterns around the Ikorodu Roundabout. This modification has been deemed necessary to facilitate the final stages of construction involving the Asphalt binder course and wearing course for the newly established slip road. This traffic diversion is slated to commence on Thursday, August 17, and will specifically affect the inbound lane leading to Ikorodu General Hospital.
This decision to divert traffic has been made in continuation of the broader initiative known as the Junction Improvement Works at Ikorodu Roundabout. The primary goal of this initiative is to alleviate traffic congestion points and subsequently reduce travel time within the metropolitan area of Lagos. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Abdulhafiz Toriola, emphasized the significance of this effort in streamlining urban mobility and enhancing the overall safety of road users.
Under this arrangement, vehicles traveling inbound to Ikorodu General Hospital will be directed to make use of the slip road, enabling access to Hospital Road via a route passing by Polaris Bank and extending onward to the General Hospital premises. This alternative route has been carefully designed to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the traffic diversion, ensuring a smooth flow of vehicles despite the ongoing construction work.
In view of these developments, it is of utmost importance for motorists and commuters to exercise patience and understanding. The temporary closure of the designated lane is a strategic measure employed as part of the comprehensive traffic management plan. The overarching aim is to foster improved traffic movement and enhance overall safety conditions, aligning with the broader objectives of urban development and modernization in Lagos.
